With a School of Medicine ranked among the top 15 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report, the University of New Mexico is an influential force in the future of biotechnology and health sciences. It provides training in electronics, microsystems, optics, and photonics. Its center for High Technology Materials is nationally recognized for its work in optoelectronics and microelectronics. Together, the university’s Health Sciences Center and School of Engineering have already spun out five New Mexico companies that employ more than 500 people.
New Mexico State University, Las Cruces
Known for its prowess in science and technology and hands-on learning environment, NMSU is educating the biotech workforce of the future. The university has a world-renowned microsensor laboratory. The Electrical Engineering Department is developing laser optics for optical communication and measurements. Also, its Physics Department is developing optical enhancements with nanoparticles and microcavities.
